Saxony is the country of the palaces and castles. Above all in the man-made landscape around Schmilka one finds a big number of these former residences of the princes and kings. They invite to go on a time trip, to stroll in old walls and to listen in dreadful stories.

Attend the biggest mountain fortress of Europe, the fortress King's stone, the castle Stolpen built on basalt which was the long-standing prison of countess Cosel, the royal castle Weesenstein, the castle travesty stone, the baroque garden Großsedlitz, the Bohemian castle in Decin with his graceful rose garden or also castle the cuckoo's stone on which already Napoleon spent the night.

In the land castle Zuschendorf near Pirna you will find every year tender camellia blossoms in splendid paints. In a show of world rank the castle 220 accommodates kinds from genuine kind material of the 19th century and the baroque rooms and the botanical gardens allow to shine in absolutely new shine. The Seidelsche camellia collection shows a historically significant cutting from the history of the camellia cultivation and the production history of Saxony and stands for over 15 years under conservation of monuments and historic buildings.

And in the castle Pillnitz there grows empty one of four first camellias which were brought to Europe. Today she is 220 years old and already proud is 9 metres high. Between February and April she dresses up with astonishing 35,000 blossoms! Pillnitz has, by the way, also a splendid English garden.
